A few months ago, I was debating whether or not I should invest in a pretty pricey coaching program.

And there was the part of me that was like, "NO! NO! NO! Do not do this program!"

It was so confusing to me because the program seemed to have everything I was looking for. I could afford the investment. The people running it are super cool and really good at what they do.

So that got me thinking...

When you do you know if that feeling in your gut is fear of something new or different and when is it a warning?

How do you really know if it's actually a warning sign that you should listen to or if it's just that you just need to cross over a line. To get to the other side and it's going to be worth all that effort.

One of the things that I've learned how to do over the years is to really listen to my body and the energy. And it works for me every time to clear the noise so I can hear the voice inside that will always give me the right option.

This video goes over the practice I use. Because I'm rooting for you...and your intuition!

Hey there, this is Heather Campbell with a little pro marketing advice, because you know, when you know what the pros do, you can do what the pros do. And today I'm going to be talking about that feeling inside of us. So I'm just going to tell you a little bit about a situation that was happening to me at the end of the year.

I was debating whether or not I should take part in this sort of expensive sort of done with you coaching program. It was $6,000 and it was recommended to me by someone who I really respect. And I had this immediate feeling of it was like one of those trigger feelings.

And I was like, when do you know that, that trigger that feeling of initial "Oh no, no no!"

When do you know, it's actually a warning sign that you should listen to and when do you know it's  just fear or maybe an opportunity that you just need to cross over a line. To get to the other side and it's going to be worth all that effort.

One of the things that I've learned how to do over the years is to really listen to my body and the energy. So if I was wondering, "Should I do this coaching program and really take the leap and invest in this?" And it's one where it's designed to get you to be seen on television and to get more publicity.

And one of my goals is to be in a bunch of podcasts this year to really get my message out there and to grow my audience and really help people. But it's things are starting to get real. So all of a sudden I get this like, "Oh no, no, no, I don't think I should be doing this."

So one of the things that I do when I have that visceral feeling is I will sit in a little bit of silence and I'll relax my body and I'm not necessarily meditating, but I'll just say, how do I feel when I think about this idea of maybe getting my word out there or increasing my audience, or, think about it in your case.

When you think about yourself, like starting your business or growing your business or hitting a goal. I'm  in this group with a lot of people who want to be on television and there absolutely getting on television, it's like the coolest thing. And and so really think about what does that feel like?

And if that feeling in your body is " Oh my gosh, yes!" This feels so good or it feels so exciting and expansive and your body is yeah, this feels really good. That's like a green light. That's telling you that this is fear. That's just. You're at the point of moving forward, and this is going to be one of those moments.

You're going to step over that line and you will look back and say, "Oh my gosh, this was one of those times in my life when this happened." And that is how I know when I feel that expansiveness or that fullness or that excitement or that idea of fun. If I find myself smiling and feeling giddy, I definitely know I'm on the right track.

Likewise, if I do that and I feel "Ugh, Like it just feels like such a buzzkill..." and I think that we all have moments like that, even in the work that we do, that there's work, that we love to do and work that we're just like, "Oh!" And it just drains our energy. And if I feel myself, like to me, when I feel an energy drain, it literally feels to me like  my body is being carved out like all this positive energy is literally just being scooped out, like with a melon baller. And and so I know that is telling me that this is something I should be listening to, and that there's some resistance happening right there.

That doesn't mean that coaching program isn't the right thing. It might be "no, not right now," or maybe it's not the right thing.

Turns out I, I had this very big feeling of expansiveness and so I took the leap and I jumped in and a lot of it, again, isn't listening to that chatter in my head, which tries to reason and puts me in control of filtering out the information that I should listen to or not. Where my body has this like internal wisdom that I've really grown to rely on.

It turns out to you guys, this is so cool this is not just a thing. This isn't just like a mind body woo meditation type of thing. This is actually like something real. One of my favorite clients, Dr. Julie Helmrich, who's a psychotherapist was telling me today  this is actually something called the "felt sense."

And there is a philosopher and psychologist, psychiatrist, whose name is Eugene Gendlin. And he studied this at the University of Chicago in the 1960s. And he found that people had the best results in therapy when they were able to correlate things with how they felt inside.

And so that the mind body connection, isn't just this concept. It's actually grounded in science, which I also thought was very cool. So thank you, Dr. Julie Helmrich for letting me know that.

So if you're ever feeling stuck or you're ever feeling that feeling of, "Oh my gosh!" Again, that immediate habit that trigger or something, that's just this is scary.

This might be change. Just know number one, that feeling is there to protect you in some way, but your body has that internal wisdom and listen to it. And if it feels expansive, that is a green light. That is just fear that's telling you, you are at the precipice of something bigger and that goodness is about to happen .

So if it elates you, that's fantastic. That's what you're looking for.

If it deflates you, it  sucks out all your energy, that's telling you yellow light or red light. See what's causing that resistance. Maybe  meditate on that a little bit more and then find something that's going to allow you to feel that expansiveness, that, that sense of elevation that is going to give you momentum to help you move forward in, in whatever it is in my mind, in my world, it is in your business cause that's where I want to help you.

So this is all awesome, but without implementation, it's just theory. So tell me if this sparked any light bulbs for you in the comments. I would love to hear what you have to say. So put in the comments, if this is making sense to you, or if you are feeling like conflicted about a decision around your business, around taking a big step forward, try this out and tell me what the result is and see if it makes a difference.

We all know what it feels like when we feel in the flow and excited about something. And we know what it feels like when we're in resistance.

Let your body and your internal wisdom, your own little internal wiring system, your felt sense is Dr. Gendlin would say at University of Chicago in the 1960s, and see if that makes a difference.

And please, please know wherever you are in the United States around this beautiful, crazy ever-changing, but hopeful, hopeful world of ours, that there's someone right here at Denver, Colorado, who is 100,000% rooting for you.

Take care, guys. I'll see you here next Thursday at noon mountain time. Bye.
